Here, In this file, You can find the information about various security concern that arise with saving your auth information in passcodes app.

We as developers, recommend you to wait, for its stable release. before full trusting passcodes app with your passwords data.

Consideration

While, saving your password in passcodes application. you should consider or should have knowledge of following things.

  • Project is license under MIT License. which means that application is given as it is, without any warranty or guarantee and is openly/freely available to redistribution or modification. (but you need to have a copy of original license in it)
  • With passcodes, your password are as safe as you write it down on pieces of paper or in a text file digitally. which means that, your information is not specializily protected.

Recommendation

Here, are the thing we recommend you to improve the safety of your passwords.

  1. Lock the passcodes app, using your phone's settings app. it will make it harded for an attackers to see your passwords.

  2. If you lock the app, then use a different password, then the one you have on your lock screen. it make it even more safer.

  3. Also, if you don't use the app often, it's recommended, to hide the app using your phone's settings. (it is bit inconvenient but at the end of day it pays off as safety)

Smartness As A Tool For Safety (a new perspective)

This type of things must only be done, if you know what you are doing... otherwise it can do more damage then safety itself.

If possible, mistype the data.... or like username or password could be swapped..... or may be fragments of username and password could be mispelled or misaligned.. make something clever along this lines... it will protect you...

And most of the times we don;t need to know it all... As human, our brain does a really good job of fill in... so, trust your future brain to make a good guess.. and mistype or do something like that and trust your brain that It will fill up or come up with a correct password when you will give it this incorrect mistyped infomation.

i.e. if your password is "spiderman-is-the-best".. then you can save it as "ironman-is-the-best".. and your brain will recoginized that you as an individual, a big fan of and really like spiderman a lot. so, "ironman-is-best" can't be your password.. (and if any of that two is your real password, then bro, what are wait for, an hacker? just rush to your device and change it immediately..)
